The Lullaby Trust is dedicated to saving babies’ lives. Every year over 600 babies die suddenly and unexpectedly, of which approximately 250 deaths remain unexplained and will be attributed to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) or ‘cot death’ as it is more commonly known. We work to prevent these tragedies and drive down the rate of SIDS. The Lullaby Trust promotes evidence-based ‘safer sleep for babies’ advice to prevent SIDS, funds research to better understand it, and provides specialist support for families affected by the loss of a baby. The loss of a child is devastating, but to lose a seemingly healthy baby with no explanation is heart breaking. We support families to cope with their loss through our bereavement services. Our current objective is to reduce sudden infant deaths in the UK to 150 by 2020 to ultimately achieve our long-term aim of eradicating SIDS completely.
