Project Baby Buying Guide - Manchester Central 2024

Getting your home ready for a baby means that you’ll need to make a baby checklist and do some shopping. That’s what's great about The Baby Show with Lidl GB; it’s your one-stop shop for everything pregnancy, baby and parenting. There will be 100’s of brands under one roof, with all the best deals on the market.

So what do you need?

Sleep Time

To start with you need somewhere for baby to sleep, there's lots to choose from and no right or wrong just preference.

Moses Basket

A small wicker basket with a Moses stand for your baby to sleep in, which will last you around 4-6 months depending on your baby's growth rate.

Next To Me Crib

Attach to your bed to make night feeds and co-sleeping a breeze. The crib can be used until the baby is around 6 months old or even longer, depending on when they start sitting up.

Cot/Cot Bed

If you prefer, you can start with a cot or cot bed, which the baby can sleep in until they are 2+.

Whilst you’re considering the sleeping arrangements you might want to consider a baby monitor for extra peace of mind.

Car Seats

You will need a car seat to safely transport your baby home from the hospital. Most hospitals would recommend using an infant car seat, even if you won't be driving home. Check with your maternity unit.

Things to consider when buying a car seat:

·         Will you buy an isofix base with it?

·         Is it important if this swivels 360 degrees?

·         Do you want the car seat to lay flat?

·         Is it compatible with your pushchair?

Pushchair/Travel System/Prams

At The Baby Show you will find plenty of prams to try and compare before you buy. What's more, you can test them out yourself on the Buggy Testing Track.

A few things to consider when purchasing your pram:

·         Where will you be using it, and is it appropriate for the terrain?

·         Can it fold one handed?

·         Does it grow with your family?

Changing Bags

You will need somewhere to store all those nappies and spare clothes on days out.

Baby Clothes

You will find some very cute clothes at The Baby Show from some gorgeous independent and boutique stands.

Baby Carrier

Get the dads involved in baby-wearing and check out some great carriers at the show - Cari-Fit and Baby Bjorn are just two of the baby-wearing brands that will be at The Baby Show.
