Mama Bamboo will once again be returning to the Baby Show at Excel London as we throw ourselves into 2025 with excitement. Our challenger brand has achieved a lot in its short life span, and we want to celebrate our journey, as well as prepare for some big 2025 plans.
Mama Bamboo launched with the ultimate mission of reducing plastic and chemicals from baby’s early lives. Offering eco and health-conscious parents our softer-than-cotton nappies and wipes, made from organically grown and sustainably harvested bamboo with chlorine free pulp and fully compostable liners, we have saved tens of thousands of tonnes of plastic nappies from landfill and thousands of gallons of oil, water and CO2 emissions from polluting our babies’ world. Last year we launched in Tesco marketplace and Planet Organic. These major retailers are central to expanding our reach and allowing more customers to experience our sustainable offering. We also launched our full range of products into 12 European countries through partnerships with Wholefoods Ireland, Big Green Smile Netherlands and Amazon Europe, thus opening Mama Bamboo up to a marketplace of millions of new customers who want a greener, healthier and more sustainable solution for their children. Our mission doesn’t stop with our plastic free products. Behind the scenes, we have campaigned for a plastic wet wipe ban and worked with University College London (UCL) to complete a full Lifecycle Assessment of our products versus other nappy offerings and investigated the establishment of a nationwide composting scheme. Supporting the Ellen MacArthur proposal* for a Circular Economy for Nappies, our research shows irrefutably that composting plant-based nappies is the most sustainable option available. This groundbreaking work will continue in 2025 and potentially revolutionise the way our country manages nappy and wipe waste for everyone. We continue to be awarded both performance and sustainability-based awards for our products and ethical business model. We were delighted when all our hard work was rewarded in 2023 when we officially recertified as the highest scoring B-Corp nappy brand in the world, achieving a 119.1 rating. A B-Corp is a business that meets the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. So, to achieve this rating makes us the best of the best! Throughout our journey, our outspoken-vegan-organic-living-champion brand ambassador Tiffany Watson has supported our work and message, commenting on how Mama Bamboo has played an integral part in her parenting journey; “Mama Bamboo is a brand I am proud to represent as it reflects the ethical and sustainable standards that I aspire to in other areas of our family life. The sustainability and eco credentials of the products is just one area that Mama Bamboo is market leading in, but they also strive to push the boundaries in other areas, such as their tireless work to research and establish a nationwide collection and composting service for their plant-based nappies and wipes. All in all, Mama Bamboo' sustainability efforts, and the work they do to reduce the impact of plastic nappies on our planet, is why I chose to work with them." As Mama Bamboo looks ahead to the future, we are excited about our plans which include some new product launches and further work with industry leaders to try and establish a roadmap for full circularity in the baby hygiene marketplace. We are excited for what is to come and confident that through our work we can push the boundaries of the green economy in this country.
