Lucy Upton
Lucy Upton is a leading UK Paediatric Dietitian and voice for children's nutrition, with over 14 years of experience embedded in the NHS and Private Practice. She is passionate about championing the nutritional health of babies and children of all ages. Lucy has gained a wealth of clinical experience supporting children and their families in a range of NHS settings, from GP clinics and schools to Specialist Children’s Hospitals. Her knowledge and experience gained within this diverse range of settings allow her to bring experienced, honest, pragmatic and importantly evidence-based advice to parents when supporting children’s feeding and nutrition. Lucy’s specialist areas of expertise include; food allergies, fussy eating, gut health, feeding and feeding difficulties, weaning, coeliac disease, and children’s growth.
Lucy’s experience to date has led her to present nationally and internationally on a range of children’s nutrition topics, and she is a guest lecturer at Coventry University and Birmingham City University. Lucy has also completed additional training and competencies with feeding, and is currently the Lead Dietitian for The Feeding Trust, an award-winning children’s feeding therapy charity set up to provide integrated care for children with more complex feeding challenges or differences.
Lucy is an established consultant on children’s feeding and nutrition and enjoys collaborating with brands that are passionate and committed to children’s health. She has supported essential work in the early year's nutrition sector within her role at The Infant and Toddler Forum for the last 9 years, and regularly consults with brands or individuals working in the field or interested in infant and/or child nutrition from cook books by Rebecca Wilson, to children’s food manufactures. Lucy is a trained media spokesperson and contributes regularly to written and recorded national press, including features on the BBC Breakfast Sofa.
Lucy is passionate about supporting all parents with confidence surrounding their child’s nutrition and feeding! She has a popular and active Instagram account aiming to empower parents through education, and cut through nutrition nonsense often found online! She is now also the director of The Children’s Dietitian Ltd, running private 1:1 clinics, providing webinars, courses and free resources to help navigate the tricky world of children’s nutrition and parenting
