Martha Deiros-Collado

Clinical Psychologist, Family Therapy

Dr Martha Deiros Collado is a clinical psychologist and HCPC registered practitioner with over 20 years of clinical and academic experience. Dr Martha recently became an instant Sunday Times Bestselling author for her debut book, How to Be the Grown-Up: Why Good Parenting Starts with You, published by Bantam.

Martha’s expertise is in parenting, child development, and paediatric health, specialising in helping children and their parents cope with distress by taking a holistic systems approach that values the individual, their family, and the networks around them.

Striving to make the science of psychology accessible to everyone, Dr Martha’s dedicated Instagram community has come to trust the calm, and empathetic way she tackles both big subjects and the small but critical day-to-day challenges. Martha guides parents to build confidence, and ultimately feel less alone. Martha strongly believes that focusing on the parent-child relationship is the key to effective change, rather than trying to modify children’s behaviour.

Dr Martha has a private practice based in London where she offers consultations and time-limited family and parent therapy. She regularly provides individualised workshops on mental health and parenting topics to businesses including WIX, H&A City Parents network and Net-a-Porter. She has been an expert guest on BBC One and is often invited on BBC radio to discuss child health, psychology, parenting and mental health topics.

A chartered member of the British Psychological Society with a Doctorate from UCL and training in Family Therapy from the Tavistock, Martha is a published author in peer-reviewed papers and an experienced supervisor for qualified and trainee psychologists. Dr Martha has worked with life-limiting and life-shortening conditions at hospitals across the country including Great Ormond Street as lead psychologist supporting children and their families.

Dr Martha lives in London with her husband, two children and a Norwegian Forest cat.
